Took a dive into @Odin_GodOfRunes recently - the most successful Bitcoin Dapp of the year by far.
Having pulled in 10k BTC in tx volume in under a year of being live, it was pretty eye opening as to how the future of Bitcoin DeFi must look.
Basically: UX is the key.
What Odin got right was creating a Runes trading experience that is 1) really fast, and 2) still FEELS like you're on Bitcoin.
Depositing to Odin and trading on it feels like using a CEX - but without KYC. Even though another layer with separate trust assumptions is being leveraged in the background (ICP), there's no step that feels like you're wrapping, bridging, or leaving Bitcoin.
It's all abstracted away so well that, for memecoin traders, they really don't care that much about the security tradeoffs. While there are obviously DeFi applications where maximum security will matter, memecoin gambling isn't one of them.
The broader point, however, is that you can create fast L2 experiences for Bitcoin native assets that are completely seamless, overcoming the scalability challenges of the base layer.
Odin is proof of that.
